South African in origin, the Pinotage grape is the result of a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault vines.
It’s an interesting and intense wine and is only produced in small quantities.
Hand harvested and hand crafted from our front home block the wine was produced using 25% whole bunch pressed and wild yeast fermentation resulting in a modern style Pinotage
Eye: Dark hues tending to crimson and violet on the edges
Nose: Berry fruits and earthy tones of dusty forest floor, tobacco leaf and leather.
Taste: Intense fruit flavours are underpinned with a gamey savouriness. Smoky with hints of tobacco leaf. Elegant stem characters influence the tannin structure supporting the fruity bouquet
Match with dishes like smoked duck and pulled pork,
aubergines, grilled Portobello mushrooms and dark leafy greens.
