2015 Reserve Pinotage
VINEYARD AND WINEMAKING NOTES
2015 can be summed up as the 3rd great vintage in a row. Long hot days provided a great platform in which 2015 wines will be remembered.
Whole bunches totaling 15% of the ferment were individually selected for stem quality then handpicked and placed in the bottom of a fermenter where we then selectively harvested the remainder of the block for ferment.
Low cropping and berry selection was crucial in achieving the finished product. Fermentation was wild with no additives, minimal plunging was used to ensure natural tannin extraction. No filtration or fining was used in the production of this blockbuster of a wine."
Bottling Date: 20/03/2016
REGION Esk Valley, Hawke’s Bay
Eye: Dark hues tending to crimson and violet on the edges
Nose: Wild brambly and gamey with hints of eucalyptus entwined with berry fruits giving a lifted and complex nose.
Taste: Blackberries and raspberry with eucalyptus undertones. Long finish with great tannins from stems holding this wine together. An excellent example of a modern Pinotage
