Orange Pinot Gris
VINEYARD AND WINEMAKING NOTES
Embarking on orange winemaking at Linden Estate was just like any other day ie: break all the rules, think outside the square, improvise, and basically try to exceed even our own expectations.
The grapes were harvested late to develop serious tropical ripeness and phenolic ripeness. They were then placed with care in plastic lined wooden apple crates and plunged like a red wine for an extended time of 6 weeks. Wild fermentation was allowed to occur in order to keep things as natural as possible. In fact, no one shaved, washed or used deodorant during the manufacture of these wines. The resulting wines were so phenolic and harsh they were virtually undrinkable...PERFECT. These wines are a fantastic piece of artistry and are not for the faint hearted. Very much a food wine, if you are after something completely different and up for a challenge this is it
